Suitable Greenhouse Structures for Cameroon.

Greenhouse fabrication in Cameroon is still at the trial face and most local farmers are not yet well informed about greenhouse farming.  With the different soil types and climatic conditions, a standard structure that suits the different geographical regions has not been put in place.

When setting up a greenhouse, the crop, purpose and location are the key consideration. Below are some types of greenhouses that can be developed in Cameroon;

The Greenhouse is erected and stands on its own. It can also be referred to as a single unit. This type can be constructed for commercial purposes. The free-standing design is usually the best choice for the small grower planning on less than 10,000 sq ft of growing space.

It is easy to build more greenhouses as more space is needed. A separate growing environment can be provided in each house. Individual greenhouses can also be shut down when not in use. Free-standing greenhouses are less expensive to build as site preparation and erection costs are less.
